Characteristics

Cyathia on peduncles 1–2 mm long, c. 3.5 × 4.5 mm, with cup-shaped involucres; glands 4, spreading, c. 1.3 × 2.5 mm, suborbicular or crescent-shaped with 2 blunt points or 2 horns to 0.8 mm long; lobes erect, 1.3 × 1.3 mm, quadrangular, apex distinctly 2-toothed with ciliate margins.

Leaves subsessile, glabrous except sometimes for a few hairs at the base; petiole c. 1 mm long, flattened, pubescent; lamina to 4.5 × 1 cm, lanceolate to linear-lanceolate, rounded at the apex and minutely apiculate, cuneate at the base, entire at the margin.
Cymes axillary and terminal, 5–15 clustered in pseudumbels at the branch apices, each 2–4-forked, with primary rays to 3 cm long.
Female flower: ovary glabrous; styles 2.5 mm long, joined for 1 mm, with spreading slightly thickened bifid apices.
Straggly shrub 0.5–3 m high; branches minutely pubescent, leafless below and marked with crowded leaf scars.
Capsule exserted on a reflexed pedicel to 7 mm long, 4.5 × 5 mm, deeply 3-lobed.
Male flowers: bracteoles linear, minutely pubescent; stamens 5 mm long.
Seeds 2.8 × 2 mm, oblong, smooth, shiny black; caruncle 1 mm across.
Bracts sessile, c. 10 × 8 mm, ovate, yellow.
