Characteristics

Cyathia terminal and pseudoaxillary, solitary on peduncles 0.5–1.5 mm long, 1.25 × 1.25 mm with cup-shaped involucres; glands 4, to 0.5 mm wide, transversely elliptic, with white to deep pink appendages, the 2 on either side of the gap through which the capsule is exserted larger, obtusely extended to 1.5 × 0.8 mm, usually smaller; lobes minute, acutely triangular.

Leaves with a petiole 0.5 mm long; stipules 0.5–0.75 mm long, filiform; lamina to 30 × 2 mm, linear, apiculate at the apex, obliquely rounded at the base and entire on the margin.
Female flower: ovary pedicellate, pilose; styles 0.75 mm long, joined at the base, spreading, bifid for two-thirds, with slightly thickened apices.
Capsule exserted on a reflexed pedicel to 1.8 mm long, 1.6 × 1.6 mm, acutely 3-lobed with truncate base, pilose except around the apex.
Seeds 1.4 × 0.8 mm, oblong-conical, 4-angled, with numerous fine transverse ridges and grooves, pale pinkish-brown to pale grey.
Glabrous annual herb, erect to 30 cm high; branches lax, spreading, very slender.
