Characteristics

Perennial herb, up to 0.6 m high; glabrous. Stems erect, simple or with ray-like branches below. Leaves sessile, alternate, many, a whorl below umbel; blade narrowly obovate, apex acute, base subcordate, margins distinctly, finely serrate. Flowers: unisexual or bisexual; in umbels, 4-6-rayed, with or without rays in axils of leaves below it; bracts variable; involucre sessile, cup-shaped, glabrous with 4 glands and 5 oblong, ciliate lobes. Fruit a subglobose capsule, slightly grooved.
