Characteristics

Cyathia terminal and pseudoaxillary, congested on short leafy shoots, solitary on peduncles 0.5–1 mm long, c. 1.3 × 1.3 mm with cup-shaped involucres; glands 4, to 0.5 mm wide, transversely elliptic, with white to pink appendages, the 2 on either side of the gap through which the capsule is exserted, slightly larger to 0.8 × 1 mm; lobes acutely triangular, ciliate.

Leaves glabrous with a petiole 0.5–1 mm long; stipules to 1.5 mm long, linear, entire; lamina to 45 × 3 mm, linear or to 30 × 7 mm and lanceolate, acute at the apex, obliquely rounded at the base, entire on the margins.
Erect annual herb to 30 cm high with a stem to 3 mm thick becoming woody; branches spreading, sparsely pubescent to almost glabrous, with short, curled hairs.
Seeds 1.5 × 1 mm, oblong-conical, 4-angled, with 3 or 4 pronounced transverse ridges and grooves, pale pinkish-brown to pale grey.
Female flower: ovary pedicellate, glabrous; styles 1.3 mm long, joined at the base, scarcely bifid at the apex.
Capsule exserted on a reflexed pedicel to 2.5 mm long, 2 × 2.3 mm, 3-lobed with truncate base.
Male flowers: bracteoles deeply laciniate; stamens 2.4 mm long.
