Characteristics

Perennial herb, up to 0.25 m high. Root tuberous with 1 or more subterranean, erect stems. Leaves sessile; blade linear or narrowly ovate, 12-37 x 1.5-4.0 mm, apex acute, margins infolded or concave-channelled, glabrous, glaucous. Flowers: involucre > 6 mm in diameter; glands with 3-7 simple or forked processes or with teeth along outer margins, corrugated on upper surface; green; Aug.-Nov. Fruit a capsule with puberulous pedicel, exceeding the involucre by 3-4 mm.
