Characteristics

Cyathia solitary on peduncles 0.5 mm long, c. 1.8 × 1.8 mm, with sparsely pilose cup-shaped involucres; glands 4, c. 0.7 mm wide, transversely elliptic, with conspicuous white, pink or red appendages, 2 of these c. 1 × 1.5 mm, the other 2, on either side of the gap through which the capsule is exserted, extended obliquely to c. 3 × 1.5 mm; lobes 0.5 mm long, acutely triangular, ciliate.

Leaves with a petiole to 1 mm long; stipules linear, to 1.5 mm long; lamina to 13 × 8 mm, ovate, rounded apex, obliquely subcordate at the base, entire at the margin, glabrous.
Annual or short-lived perennial herb with a woody root up to 5 mm in diameter; branches prostrate, to 25 cm long, pubescent on the upper surface with short crisped hairs.
Capsule just exserted on a reflexed pedicel to 2 mm long, 1.8 × 1.8 mm, acutely 3-lobed with truncate base, pilose on the angles.
