Characteristics

Perennial herb, probably with a thick woody rootstock, giving rise to woody persistent underground stems to ± 5 cm. long which branch at ground level; branches procumbent to ± 25 cm. long, pilose with spreading hairs.. Leaves broadly ovate to ± 8 × 7 mm., base rounded and markedly oblique, apex rounded, margin entire or obscurely toothed, leathery, glabrous; petiole 0.5 mm. long; stipules triangular, 0.5 mm. long, margin toothed.. Cyathia solitary on peduncles to 1.5 mm. long, terminal and pseudoaxillary, 17 × 2 mm., with cup-shaped involucres; glands 4, transversely elliptic, ± 0.4 × 0.7 mm., brownish, with deeply 3–5-lobed white petaloid appendages 2–5 mm. long; involucral lobes triangular, 0.3 mm. long, margin shortly ciliate.. Male flowers: bracteoles laciniate, apices ciliate; stamens 1.8 mm. long.. Female flower: styles 0.6 mm. long, bifid to halfway, with thickened apices.. Capsule exserted on a reflexed pedicel 4.5 mm. long, deeply 3-lobed, ± 2 × 2 mm.. Seeds oblong-conical, 1.3 × 0.8 mm., greyish pink, surface wrinkled.
