Characteristics

Succulent shrub, 0.5-1.0 m high; spineless, unisexual, branching from base and above. Branches opposite, erect, straight, smooth, terete, fibrous; primary branches 4-6 mm thick at base. Leaves opposite, somewhat fleshy, rudimentary, soon deciduous. Flowers: cyathia on terminal branches, in cymes racemosely arranged; bracts soon deciduous, similar to leaves; involucres glabrous; involucral glands toothed.
