Characteristics

Cyathia terminal and pseudoaxillary, congested on short leafy shoots, solitary on peduncles 0.5–1.5 mm long, c. 1.3 × 1.3 mm with cup-shaped involucres; glands 4, to 0.5 mm wide, transversely elliptic, with pink or white appendages variable in size to 0.6 × 1 mm; lobes minute, acutely triangular.

Leaves with a petiole 1–2 mm long; stipules to 1.5 mm long, linear from a broad base, entire; lamina glabrous, to 40 × 5 mm, linear or linear-lanceolate, obtuse at the apex, obliquely rounded at the base, denticulate on the margins especially towards the apex, rarely entire.
Erect annual herb to 50 cm high; branches spreading, glabrous or occasionally minutely pubescent, becoming woody at the base, longitudinally ridged towards the apex.
Female flower: ovary pedicellate, glabrous; styles 0.5 mm long, joined at the base, bifid almost to the base.
Seeds 1.1 × 0.7 mm, oblong-conical, 4-angled with shallow transverse wrinkles, pale pinkish-grey.
Capsule exserted on a pedicel c. 1.5 mm long, 1.5 × 1.8 mm, acutely 3-lobed.
Male flowers: bracteoles filamentous; stamens 1.5 mm long.
