Characteristics

An epiphytic herb.. Stem covered in persistent leaf-sheaths, producing many long roots at the nodes, 2–8 cm. long.. Leaves 3–8, broadly oblong-elliptic or obliquely ovate-elliptic, unequally and subacutely bilobed at apex, margin undulate, thinly coriaceous, sheath 4–10 mm. long, lamina 6–21 cm. long, 1.5–7 cm. broad.. Inflorescence laxly 2–6(–12)-flowered, deflexed or pendulous; peduncle and rhachis 3–9 cm. long; bracts triangular-ovate to ovate, obtuse, the upper closely appressed to the pedicellate ovary, 2–5 mm. long.. Flowers scented of Lily-of-the-Valley (Convallaria majalis), with translucent white tepals, flushed and veined pale green; lip white with dark green disc and veins, with a chocolate-brown to purple area at the spur-entrance. Spur greenish brown to reddish pink; column pale green; anther cream or pale greenish yellow; pedicellate ovary curved, 10–12 mm. long. Sepals and petals acute or apiculate.. Dorsal sepal oblong-elliptic, 20–23(–25) mm. long, 5.5–7 mm. broad; laterals narrowly elliptic or oblong-elliptic, slightly curved, 22–25 mm. long, 6–7 mm. broad..
