Characteristics

Rather lax shrub, 0.4-1.7 m high, mostly glabrous, younger stems leafy, later nude with leaf scars. Leaves erect to spreading, lanceolate to linear, 5-15 mm long, flat, ± fleshy. Peduncles lateral in leaf axils, mostly in an elongated raceme. Capitula ± 10-15 mm in diam.; involucre ± campanulate, 3-7 mm wide; bracts 5 or 6, ± uniseriate, ovate to lanceolate, 3-6-veined, free parts 2-5 mm long. Ray florets 2-6, yellow. Disc florets 10-20, mostly 13. Flowering time Dec.-June. Pappus of many bristles, 1-2 mm long, white. Cypselae ± obovate-oblong, 2-3 mm long, densely white-hairy, mucilaginous when wet, 5 narrow veins.
