Corolla creamy-white, pale green or distinctly yellow, densely tomentose outside; tube 15–20 mm long, straight or somewhat curved, with a ring of deflexed and erect hairs ± 2/3 of way down inside; lobes 3–6 × 2.2–2.5 mm, ovate-triangular, ± acute.
Shrub 0.3–4 m tall; stems with a dense white, cream or grey cottony tomentum, at length greyish but persistently tomentose; older stems bearing the new year's shoots can be blackish and glabrous; bark on tall specimens smooth and brown.
Cymes 3–6-flowered but sometimes appearing as dense verticillasters in inflorescences occurring at leafless nodes bearing 3 abbreviated new shoots; peduncle 0–3(15) mm long; pedicels 3–4(8) mm long; bracts 3.5–5 mm long, lanceolate.
Calyx tube 3–4 mm long, ± globose, densely tomentose; limb ± truncate but with thin teeth c. 1 mm long, lacking tomentum.
Fruit about 10 × 8 mm, subglobose, distinctly 4-lobed in dry state, with scattered cottony tomentum.
The pollen presenter green, coroniform, deeply 5-lobed at the apex.
Stigma green, exserted 1–2.5 mm beyond the throat.
