Branches 4–8 per node, deflexed, subequal, slender. Culm sheaths gradually deciduous, distally broadly rounded, cartilaginous, glabrous, white powdery at base, longitudinal ribs conspicuous marginally and distally; auricles and oral setae absent; ligule steeply arcuate, ca. 1 mm, glabrous; blade erect, triangular or linear-lanceolate, glabrous. Leaves 2–4 per ultimate branch; sheath margins yellow-brown ciliolate; auricles and oral setae absent; ligule truncate, ca. 1 mm, glabrous; blade lanceolate, 5–11 × 0.7–1.5 cm, glabrous, secondary veins 3-or 4-paired, transverse veins distinct, base broadly cuneate, one margin spinescent-serrulate, other margin obscure.
