Characteristics

Calyx tube 0.8–1 mm. long, campanulate; lobes 1.5–2 x 0.8–1 mm., ovate or ovate-oblong, distinctly winged or the upper part of the keel (at least the outward pair), apiculate, 1-nerved.

Leaves 6–10 x 2–4 mm., oblong-ovate or oblong-lanceolate, cuneate at the base, obtuse at the apex, fleshy, subsessile, sometimes scarcely exceeding the subtended fascicle of flowers.
Flowers blue, in axillary 3–4-flowered fascicles which are congested to form a subcapitate inflorescence; pedicels 2–4 mm. long, filiform.
Corolla tube c. 2.5 mm. long, cylindric; lobes 2–2.5 x 0.9–1 mm., ovate-oblong, subacute.
Ovary 2–2.4 x 1–1.25 mm., obovoid-cylindric; style 2–2.5 mm. long; stigma obsolete.
Stem up to 7 (10) cm. long, branched, 4-ridged, almost winged.
Seeds c. 0.25 mm. in diam., globose, minutely scrobiculate.
Filaments 1.9–2.2 mm. long; anthers c. 0.5 mm. long, ovoid.
