Characteristics

Shrub or small tree with hard wood and glossy red-to grey-brown bark, divaricately branched.. Young branches, leaves and inflorescences densely hairy.. Leaves on short side branches, rather congested, 10–25 mm. long, 3–9 mm. broad, acute to obtuse, lamina tapered into a short petiole.. Racemes with 2–5 flowers on 5–8 mm. long pedicels, in fruit not much elongated and with pedicels up to ± 8 mm.. Sepals 6–7 mm. long.. Petals whitish, spathulate with rounded apex, 10–12 mm. long, 3–3.5 mm. broad.. Filaments nearly linear, all 1-nerved from the base; each lateral stamen surrounded at base by 2 separate, subtriangular, ± 0.4 mm. high nectarial lobes.. Ovary 5–9 mm. long, hairy only along replum and style; style 3.2–4.2 mm. long, with a semiglobose slightly bifid stigma.. Siliqua obovate, with upper margin rather straight, ± 16 mm. long, 6–7 mm. broad; valves glabrous; septum with dense fibres and small distinct hyaline areas; style (including stigma) 4.5–5.5 mm. long, very slender.. Seeds (excluding wing) ± 2.7 mm. across; wing ± 1.5 mm. broad.. Fig. 11/3.
