Shrub, 0.07-0.45 m high. Leaves alternate; blade linear, margins entire, hairy within axils, apex with a few short hairs, otherwise glabrous, slightly succulent. Heads radiate, solitary; peduncle long, densely hairy or glabrous. Involucral bracts imbricate, 3-or 4-seriate, with resin ducts on backs. Flowers: ray florets blue-purple; disc florets yellow; Oct., Feb.-May. Fruit with cypsela obovate to elliptic, covered by long silky hairs. Pappus uniseriate, of barbellate bristles, of different lengths, present in ray and disc cypsela.
