Mat-forming, prostrate herb with upright flowering branches, up to 0.15 m high. Leaves alternate, linear, entire, long hairs along margins, some hairs on leaf blade, glabrescent. Capitula radiate, solitary; peduncle with many small leaves/bracts, hairy; involucral bracts in many rows, imbricate, lanceolate, hairy to glabrous. Ray florets blue-purple. Disc florets yellow. Flowering time Feb. Pappus of many barbellate bristles present in both ray and disc florets. Cypselae obovate, brown, shortly hairy.
