Spikelets 7-15 mm long, laterally compressed; glumes unequal to ± equal, shorter than spikelet, 1-3-nerved. Florets 3-7; lemma entire, 7-nerved (3 ± distinct), rounded on back at least at base, awnless or minutely awned; anther 1.8-2.0 mm long. Flowering time Sept.-Feb.
