Inflorescence 50-300 x 10-30 mm, narrow, contracted, sometimes spike-like or interrupted; branches smooth or with scattered prickles. Spikelet 7-15 mm long, 3-7-flowered; glumes 1-3-nerved; lemma awnless or awn up to 1.2 mm long; anthers 1.8-2.0 mm long.
