Characteristics

Shrub or small tree to 13 m high. Leaves: petiole 10–50 mm long, slightly swollen at base and apex, not geniculate; lamina elliptic, obovate or oblanceolate, 40–205 mm long, 10–65 mm wide; base cuneate to rounded; tip acuminate; venation comprising 8–12 lateral veins and reticulate interlateral veins; glands elliptic, marginal, 1.5–5 mm from base of lamina. Male flowers: pedicels 3–8 mm long, disc lobed to undulate, 0.7–1 mm high, with dense trichomes; stamens 25–30, connate up to 0.5 mm above top of disc, filaments free for 1.5–2.5 mm. Female flowers: pedicels 3–14 mm long; calyx lobes triangular; disc undulate, 0.6–0.8 mm high, glabrous. Fruit ellipsoid-ovoid, 4-or 5-lobed, 24–30 mm long, 16–20 mm diam.; sarcocarp 6–8 mm thick, apricot or pink; endocarp shortly beaked for 1–2 mm, bluntly 4-or 5-ridged at sutures, intersutural faces concave, 20–25 mm long, 7–10 mm wide, smooth.
