Characteristics

Shrub or small tree to 18 m high. Leaves: petiole 3–13 mm long, slightly swollen at base only, not geniculate; lamina obovate to oblanceolate, 25–140 mm long, 8–55 mm wide; base attenuate to cuneate; tip acute to rounded; venation comprising 7–10 lateral veins and reticulate interlateral veins; glands elliptic, marginal, at junction of petiole and lamina. Male flowers: pedicels 2–8 mm long; disc undulate, 0.5–0.7 mm high, glabrous; stamens 20–28, connate up to 1 mm above top of disc, filaments free for 0.2–2 mm. Female flowers: pedicels 2–12 mm long; calyx lobes triangular; disc undulate, c. 0.7 mm high, glabrous. Fruit subglobose to ellipsoid, 17–26 mm long, 17–26 mm diam.; sarcocarp 3–6 mm thick, yellow-orange; endocarp not beaked, sharply 3–5-ridged at sutures, intersutural faces ± flattened to 3-angled, 15–24 mm long, 12–17 mm wide, smooth.
