Origin: in Auchincruive, Ayr, Scotland, by Robert D. Reid, Dept. of Agr. for Scotland. Introd. in 1947 in Great Britain; sent to the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, Beltsville, Md., in 1945 for trial purposes and usage in the breeding program of that department. Seedling TD8 × Aberdeen. Tree: high yielding; resistant to red stele disease. Variety was widely grown in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, but now completely ruined by June yellows and has gone out of cultivation. Under U.S. conditions, variety was too soft for commercial use and was never propagated. Fruit: quality high in Europe; suitable for all purposes.
