Origin: in Lexington, Ky., by Carl E. Chaplin, Kentucky Agr. Expt. Sta. Jntrod. in 1964. Fairland × Tennessee Shipper; cross made in 1951; selected in 1953; tested as Ky. 12-51-10. Tree: very vigorous; productive; makes a good matted row; moderately susceptible to leaf spot. Fruit: medium large, maintaining this size well throughout the season; conic, more uniform than many varieties; skin a very bright medium red; achenes flush with surface; flesh bright red; superior shipping and freezing qualities; ripens in midseason, about 1 or 2 days after Pocahontas, which it resembles.
