Origin: in Pequot Lakes, Minn., by Charles C. Brunes. Introd. in 1962. Plant patent 1989; 22 Nov. 1960; assigned to Farmers Seed & Nursery Co., Fairbault, Minn. Considered to be an openpollinated seedling of Marvel; discovered. in 1955. Tree: bisexual; everbearing. Fruit: larger than Marvel, with average length of 1 5/8 inches; wedge shape varying to flat oval; skin an intense red, very glossy; flesh red, firm, juicy, very sweet, nonacid; dessert quality extremely good, good for freezing and canning; stem unusually long; ripens early; resembles Atmore.
