Origin: in Beltsville, MD by G.J. Galletta, J.L. Maas, and J.M. Enns, U.S. Dept. of Agr. Intro. in 1995. Lateglow × Allstar; cross made in 1978; selected in 1980; tested as MDUS 5084. Tree: resistant to five races of red stele, most of the leaf and stem diseases and fruit rots but susceptible to leaf blight; vigorous, runners well, flowers and fruits later than Allstar, Lateglow, or Jewel; very productive; grows well in matted row or raised beds, planted in spring or summer. Fruit: large; attractive; firm skin and flesh; glossy red skin; light red flesh color; pleasant, mild, slightly acidic fresh flavor.
