Cultivation

Origin: in College Park, Md., by I.C. Haut, Univ. of Maryland. Introd. in 1969. Jerseybelle × [(Klonmore × Midland) × (Tennessee Shipper × Midland)]. Cross made in 1956, selected in 1959, tested as Md 88E. Tree: medium size; vigor good; productive. Recommended for mid-Atlantic region and northward. Fruit: large; very symmetrical, conic; skin uniform bright red, tough; flesh moderately light red, firm; most valuable characteristics: holds size exceptionally well, very firm, easily picked, tough skin; ripens late, between Jerseybelle and Vesper.
