Origin: in Roodeplat, Pretoria, South Africa, by Edward P. Evans, Hort. Res. Inst. Introd. in 1972. Earlibelle × Torrey. Cross made in 1967, selected in 1968, tested as 68-41. Tree: large to very large; vigorous; upright; abundant runner production; center leaflet slightly longer than broad with acute leaf angle; slightly susceptible to Diplocarpon earliana. Fruit: very large; wedge shaped; skin attractive, bright red; flesh bright red with white near center, flavor good during cool months, but best during summer months, winter crop is mostly hollow; keeping quality good; recommended for fresh fruit and processing; ripens June to December.
