Origin: in Parkside, Saskatchewan, Canada, by A.J. Porter, Honeywood Nursery. Introd. there in 1941; introd. in the U.S. in 1949 as P.I. 181700. Gem × Fairfax; selected in 1936. Tree: large; vigorous; very resistant to leaf spot and mildew; everbearing; variable in making runners; often less productive than Gem. Fruit: medium to large; conic; skin bright red; flesh very firm, quality very good, flavor fair to good; keeps well; ripens after Gem.
