Characteristics

Small shrub, usually grey; stems puberulous, later glabrous. Leaves sessile, linear to oblong, 1.2–5 mm long, 0.5–1 mm wide; lamina produced at base but free from stem; upper surface puberulous or almost glabrous, punctate, encrusted; underside pubescent; margins recurved, usually covering midrib. Flowers solitary or in short dichasia; bracts similar to leaves; bracteoles sessile, or adnate to inside of sheath, or sheath appearing as small fold on outside of bracteole. Calyx 3.5–6 mm long, 1–1.8 mm diam., puberulous outside except ribs sometimes glabrous, glabrous inside or with scattered long hairs mainly in lower half. Petals 5, 4.5–8 mm long, White or pink. Stamens 6. Style 2-or 3-branched; stigmas linear to clavate; placentas 2 or 3, parietal; ovules 1–6 per placenta. Seeds reticulate, papillose or pubescent.
