Characteristics

Small shrub; stems densely and shortly pubescent, later glabrous. Leaves petiolate, 1.8–8 mm long, 1–5 mm wide, puberulous to almost glabrous; upper leaves oblong to linear, almost cordate at base; lower leaves oblong to elliptic, rounded at base; underside mealy; margins recurved; midrib exposed; petiole short, ciliate. Flowers in elongated dichasia or false monochasia; bracts and bracteoles similar to leaves. Calyx 5.5–7 mm long, densely to sparsely puberulous outside. Petals 4–5, 8–12 mm long, pink. Stamens 6. Style usually 3-branched; stigmas linear to clavate; ovules numerous; placentation parietal. Seeds densely and minutely pubescent.
