Small shrub; stems procumbent to erect; hairs short, spreading; internodes often up to 3 cm long. Leaves fasciculate, petiolate, linear, lanceolate or narrowly oblong, 2–8.5 mm long, pubescent on both surfaces; margins recurved covering much of underside; midrib exposed. Flowers in loose dichasia on short lateral branches; bracts and bracteoles similar to leaves. Calyx cylindrical, 6–8 or rarely to 10 mm long, 1–2 mm diam.; ribs 5, densely puberulous; grooves papillose-puberulous. Petals 5, 9.5–13.5 mm long, to 6 mm wide. Stamens usually 6. Style 3-branched; stigmas linear; ovules 3, basal; funicle long, recurved. Seeds finely reticulate.
