Characteristics

Dense, much-branched, small shrub; stems densely covered with minute, white, retrorse hairs. Leaves fasciculate, petiolate, linear, 2–5 mm long, almost glabrous above, puberulous beneath; margins recurved; midrib exposed. Flowers in short, dense dichasia; bracts and bracteoles similar to leaves. Calyx 6–7 mm long, c. 1.5 mm wide, with scattered, thick, retrorse hairs, sometimes almost glabrous. Petals 5, 8–10 mm long, deep pink. Stamens 6. Style 3-branched; stigmas linear; ovules 3, placentas parietal, above middle of ovary; funicles reflexed. Seeds smooth.
