Characteristics

Much-branched small shrub; stems pubescent, later almost glabrous. Leaves few, Petiolate, lanceolate to oblong-lanceolate. Flowers in irregular dichasia, often in long false monochasia; bracts and bracteoles petiolate, lanceolate to almost oblong or ovate; upper surface with scattered, soft, spreading hairs; underside densely pilulose, often mealy; margins recurved but midrib and most of underside exposed; petioles long-ciliate; sheath cupular, clasping base of calyx and sometimes shortly adnate to it. Calyx 5–6 mm long, setulose outside. Petals 5, 6–8 mm long, pink. Stamens 6. Style 3-branched; stigmas linear-clavate; ovules 18 or more; placentation parietal. Seeds reticulate.
