Characteristics

Much-branched, small shrub; stems densely puberulous, later glabrous. Leaves fasciculate, petiolate, linear to narrowly-ovate, 3–8 mm long, glabrous or sparsely scabrid-pilose and punctate on upper surface, white-pubescent below; margins recurved, usually covering midrib; petiole ciliate. Flowers in dense, short dichasia; bracts and bracteoles similar to leaves. Calyx 4.5–5.5 mm long, 4-or 5-ribbed; ribs glabrous or pubescent with spreading or curved hairs; grooves puberulous. Petals 4 or 5, 7–8 mm long, pink. Stamens 6, rarely 8. Style usually 3-branched; stigmas linear, long, pink; ovules 3, rarely 2, basal; funicle reflexed.
