Characteristics

Small diffuse or dense shrub; stems sparsely pubescent, later glabrous. Leaves petiolate, linear or oblong-linear, 3–6.5 mm long, c. 1 mm wide; upper surface from densely scabrid-pilose to almost glabrous or scurfy, punctate; underside pubescent; margins recurved; midrib exposed, sometimes prominent. Flowers in short, often somewhat dense dichasia; bracts and bracteoles similar to leaves or the petioles sometimes longer and/or wider. Calyx 5-ribbed, 7–11 mm long, 2–3.5 mm diam., often wider near middle; ribs 5, puberulous or with scattered hairs; grooves puberulous. Petals 5, 13–18 mm long, white to deep pink. Stamens 6. Style 3-branched; stigmas linear; ovules numerous; placentation parietal. Seeds papillose.
