Characteristics

Dense, erect or spreading small shrub; stems thick, densely puberulous, later glabrous. Leaves sessile or almost so, linear-oblong, 3–7 mm long, c. 1 mm wide, spreading, often fasiculate, puberulous above, punctate, encrusted; underside pubescent; margin recurved; midrib prominent, flat. Flowers in short dichasia; bracts and bracteoles Similar to leaves or longer. Calyx oblong-ovoid, 4–8 mm long, puberulous outside or the ribs almost glabrous; grooves often gland-dotted. Petals 5, up to 9 mm long, pink to purple-pink. Stamens 6–7. Style 3-branched; stigmas clavate; ovules 16–40; placentation parietal. Seeds rugulose.
