Characteristics

Compact small shrub; stems densely golden-tomentose, later glabrous and grey. Leaves petiolate, spreading, fasciculate, oblong, ovate or elliptic; base sometimes almost cordate; lamina to 7 mm long, 4 mm wide, pubescent on both sides; margins recurved or inrolled; petiole c. 1 mm long. Flowers in short dichasia; bracts and bracteoles similar to leaves or larger, the petiole longer. Calyx 10 (rarely to 15) mm long, 3 mm wide, pubescent with spreading hairs to 1 mm long. Petals 5, 15–23 mm long, 5–7 mm wide, pink. Stamens 6. Style 3-branched, 10–12 mm long; stigmas linear; ovules 12 to numerous; placentation parietal. Seeds papillose.
