Characteristics

Small shrub; stems often decumbent with erect laterals, sparsely pilose or glabrous. Leaves almost sessile, 3–7 mm long, 1–1.5 mm wide; upper surface glabrous or sparsely scabrid-pilose, punctate; underside pubescent; margins recurved; midrib exposed, often prominent near base; sheath ciliate. Flowers in open dichasia; bracts and bracteoles similar to leaves or with short petioles. Calyx 5–7 mm long, 5-or 6-ribbed; ribs glabrous; grooves puberulous, sometimes scurfy. Petals 5, 7–l0 mm long, white. Stamens 6 or 7. Style 3-branched; stigmas linear to clavate; placentas 3, parietal; ovules numerous.
