Characteristics

Small, compact, glaucous shrub; stems prostrate or ascending, puberulous; internodes short. Leaves sessile or almost so, crowded, spreading, oblong-linear, 1.5–3.5 mm long, c. 1 mm wide, puberulous above, punctate, encrusted; underside pubescent; margins recurved; midrib exposed. Flowers solitary or in 3-flowered dichasia; bracts and bracteoles similar to leaves but often smaller. Calyx ovoid-oblong, c. 5 mm long, puberulous or the ribs almost glabrous. Petals 5, 6–9 mm long. Stamens 6–8. Style 3-branched; stigmas clavate; ovules 7–12; placentation parietal. Seeds papillose.
