Characteristics

Compact, erect or procumbent small shrub; stems pubescent. Leaves petiolate, linear-terete, 1.5–6 mm long, c. 1 mm wide; upper surface punctate, usually glabrous; under surface puberulous; margins recurved, covering midrib; petiole ciliate. Flowers usually solitary, sometimes in short 3-flowered dichasia; bracts and bracteoles similar to leaves. Calyx obovate, 5.5–8 mm long; ribs flattened, glabrous; grooves puberulous. Petals 5, 6–11 mm long, pale pink or almost white, Stamens 6; anthers red. Style 3-branched; stigmas clavate; ovules 3–6; placentas parietal, just above base of ovary. Seeds smooth.
