Characteristics

Prostrate woody shrublets, the spreading branches with numerous short upright branchlets usually ending in flowering dichasia, glabrous or roughly curly puberulous. Leaves subsessile, allantoid, 4-7 mm long, rarely flat and linear, dorsally smooth, punctate, ventrally with white papillae or minutely puberulent and punctate. Flowers in dense to few-flowered dichasia, congested near the apices of the branchlets. Calyx 7 mm long, often with long white coarse hairs on the ribs and minutely puberulent in the grooves. Petals obovate, c. 11 mm long, erose, pink to mauvy pink. Stamens with filaments 11 mm long, somewhat expanded in lower half, filiform above. Ovary cylindrical, with the style and 3 stigmatic branches exserted for 2-3 mm beyond stamens; ovules 21-35. Capsule with papillate, brown, broadly fusiform seeds c. 1.3 mm long.
