Characteristics

Semi-prostrate or rounded small shrub; stems sparsely branched, with fine bristles or curved hairs, later glabrous. Leaves petiolate, linear, 3.5–7 mm long; upper surface glabrous or with sparse fine bristles, punctate, lower surface white-pubescent; margins recurved to cover midrib. Flowers in dense, almost head-like dichasia; bracts and bracteoles similar to leaves or with longer petioles, often more setose; bracteoles often reduced. Calyx 5–7.5 mm long, 1–1.5 mm diam., upper ⅔ with curved hairs on ribs; grooves puberulous; base glabrous. Petals usually 5, narrow, lacking scale on the claw, usually 10–12 mm long, 1–2 mm wide, white or pale pink. Stamens 4, sometimes 5; anthers dark red or purple. Style undivided or shortly 2-branched; stigmas small, linear to almost capitate; ovules 2 or 3, basal, the long funicles reflexed near top.
