Characteristics

Small shrub; stems thick, puberulous, often encrusted. Leaves fasciculate, petiolate, linear, spreading or recurved, 6–12 mm long, c. 1 mm wide, puberulous; margins recurved to cover midrib but leaving deep groove; petiole ciliate. Flowers in open dichasia; bracts and bracteoles similar to leaves, sometimes smaller or bracteole without lamina. Calyx oblong-ovoid, 6–7.5 mm long, puberulous, sometimes closely dotted with glands. Petals 10–12 mm long, pink. Stamens 6; anthers pink. Style 3-branched; stigmas linear-clavate; ovules 20–30; placentation parietal. Seeds papillose.
