Characteristics

Small shrub; stems procumbent to ascending, much-branched, covered with spreading, hooked hairs; internodes to 25 mm long. Leaves petiolate, the upper ones linear, lanceolate or oblong, 2–10 mm long, glabrous or sometimes scabrid-pilose on upper surface, puberulous below; margins recurved; midrib and part of underside exposed; lower leaves oblong, almost flat. Flowers in open, much-branched dichasia; bracts and bracteoles similar to leaves or smaller. Calyx cylindrical, 6–8 mm long, with long, hooked hairs, often denser near base. Petals 5 or 6, 8–12 mm long, pink. Stamens 5 or 6. Style 3-or 4-branched; stigmas linear-clavate, short; ovules 3 or 4, basal; funicles long, recurved. Seeds smooth.
