Characteristics

Scrambling to climbing annual herb. Lvs distant; lamina dissected, pale glaucous green, up to 8 × 4 cm; segments cuneiform or lanceolate. Infl. dense or lax, with up to 15 fls; rachis usually < or = peduncle. Peduncles 1-2-(4) cm long; bracts ovate, acuminate, membranous, often pink, < pedicels, 1.2-2 × 0.5-1 mm; pedicels remaining erect at fruiting, c. 4 mm long. Sepals ovate, dentate, acute, up to 2-3 × 1-1.5 mm. Corolla pale pink with dark purple tips, (6)-8-10 mm long; lower petal spoon-shaped at apex but margins erect. Fr. obovoid, usually slightly longer than broad, smooth when dry, c. 2 × 2 mm; apex obtuse; apical pits small.

Annual scrambling herb. Leaves 3–8 cm long, glaucous; segments distant, deeply cuneate. Racemes 3–8 cm long, 7–15-flowered; peduncle equalling or longer than raceme. Sepals ovate, 3–5 mm long, acute, dentate at base. Petals 8–12 mm long, pink with blackish red tips. Fruit ± spherical, c. 2 mm diam., minutely apiculate, smooth when dry.
Flowers 7–12 mm. long, pinkish or purplish, tipped with blackish-red or dark purple, pedicellate, pedicel 2–3 mm. long, in few-flowered bracteolate racemes, bracteoles usually shorter than the pedicels.
Fruit 1–5–2 mm. in diam., subglobose to ovoid, smooth or very finely rugulose.
Leaves petiolate, lamina bipinnatisect with cuneate lobes, glabrous.
Straggling annual herb with flexuous stems up to 50 cm. long.
Sepals 1–5–2 mm. long, ovate, dentate towards the base.
Lower petal with narrow, erect margins, not spathulate.
