Erect or sometimes rather straggling herb or subshrub 0·75–1·5 m. tall.. Leaflets 3, paler beneath, elliptic or elliptic-oblong, 2·5–5·5 cm. long, 1·4–2·5 cm. wide, rounded or slightly emarginate at the apex, rounded at the base, finely adpressed pubescent above, very densely adpressed silvery velvety beneath; petiole 1·2–2·5 cm. long; rhachis 5–9 mm. long; petiolules 1–2·5 mm. long; stipules ovate-lanceolate, 5 mm. long, 3 mm. wide, ribbed..
