Shrub 2–4 m. tall with pale grey smooth bark; branches greyish white with short contorted branchlets, pubescent at apices but glabrous beneath.. Leaves ± sessile often in whorls of 3; blades elliptic, obovate or oblanceolate, 1.2–4 cm. long, 0.5–1.7 cm. wide, ± acute at the apex, narrowly rounded, minutely subcordate or cuneate at the base, distinctly bullate, densely grey pubescent on both surfaces; stipules 3–4.5 mm. long, joined beneath to form a tube.. Flowers solitary, sessile or subsessile at the apices of short branchlets which are occasionally reduced to mere nodules, appearing before the leaves or when the leaves are not fully expanded.. Calyx-tube 1.5 mm. long, densely hairy; limb-tube ± 1 mm. long becoming 2–3 mm. long in fruit, pubescent; lobes linear to linear-spathulate, ± 4 mm. long, becoming 7–8 mm. long, 1.5–2 mm. wide in fruit, pubescent.. Corolla strongly scented, cream; tube slender, 1.3–2.5 cm. long, widened at the throat, densely pubescent; lobes 5–6, elliptic-oblong, 0.7–1.6 cm. long, 4–8 mm. wide, glabrous save for the part exposed in bud which is pubescent, very obtuse.. Placentas 2. Fruit subglobose, 9–10 mm. long, 8–9.5 mm. wide, puberulous and with long pubescence as well, thin-walled, glossy inside..
