Characteristics

Perennial herb, up to 0.35 m long. Stems woody, elongately branched, procumbent. Leaves alternate, sessile; blade linear, filiform, up to 100 x 1 mm, apex acute, not pungent, margins entire, herbaceous, glabrous, glandular-punctate. Heads radiate, sessile, solitary at forking of branches, or sometimes appearing crowded or tufted along stunted, woody branches. Involucre up to 8 mm in diameter; involucral bracts ± 5-seriate, imbricate. Receptacle paleate. Flowers: ray and disc florets yellow; Apr. Fruit with cypsela turbinate, silky villous. Pappus of scales, biseriate, alternate scales tipped with slender awn.
