Culm sheaths deciduous, light green, initially purple, gray-brown in age, densely setose, margins not ciliate; auricles brown, small, sparsely ciliate; oral setae not radiate; ligule truncate; blade conical, margins entire, sharply pointed. Leaves 1(–3) per ultimate branch; sheath glabrous; auricles obscure; ligule prominent, arcuate; blade lanceolate-oblong or oblong, 10–25 × 2–3.5 cm, margins nearly entire, secondary veins 7–9-paired. Inflorescence unknown.
