Characteristics

Slender, nearly evergreen twining climber, glabrous. Leaves with petioles 3–5 mm long; lamina lanceolate to narrowly ovate, 3–7 cm long, 9–19 mm wide. Inflorescence axillary, 1–8-flowered; pedicel usually densely bracteolate throughout. Sepals 3–5 mm long, elliptic, minutely ciliate marginally, obtuse, glabrous, mostly deciduous in fruit. Corolla 2.5–3.5 cm long, golden-yellow; lobes ovate-orbicular, 8–12 mm long, emarginate. Staminal filaments of 2 lengths, with short filaments accompanying long style and vice versa. Gynoecium distylous, c. 12 or 20 mm long. Capsule loculicidal, 1.5–2.5 cm long, oblong; base of deciduous style persisting as a beak. Seeds 1.2–1.5 cm long (including asymmetrical wing to 1 cm long).
