Characteristics

Leaf 100–250 mm long; free part 14–16 mm long, ending below flowers (sometimes exceeding flowers). Spike 10–35 mm long, 5–35 flowered. Flowers crowded, nodding, 3–4 × 3 mm, dark red or brownish red, labellum light to dark red, sometimes with yellowish band on lateral sepals. Dorsal sepal ovate, 2–2.5 × 1.5–2 mm; margins entire; apex sharply pointed. Lateral sepals decurved, widely divergent, 3–3.5 × 1 mm; base shallowly humped; apex with vestigial whitish gland. Petals porrect or recurved, 2 × 1 mm; margins glabrous; apex with small sigmoid whitish gland. Labellum stiffly hinged, elliptical, 2.5 × 1.3 mm, thick, fleshy; margins entire or irregular; apex pointed, sometimes recurved. Callus reddish black, broad and channelled near base then tapered, constricted near middle, extending three-quarters of way to labellum apex.
